But in addition to the disruptive forces any specific industry may face, there is now an added focus on racial injustice and the realities of the global pandemic – which has added new dimensions to the topic of disruption and its impact on companies.
Chiaki Nishino is the President of Prophet, a global consulting firm that helps clients find growth through marketing, brand, experience, innovation and organizational capabilities. In this episode, Chiaki and I discuss the traits needed to lead through disruption, what key priorities have shifted for marketing leaders and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion – specifically inside the marketing industry. About Chiaki:
Chiaki is President of Prophet and runs the company’s North American business as part of the Executive Committee. She also sits on the Board of Prophet. Globally, she leads the DEI effort to continue to enhance making Prophet a more diverse, equitable and inclusive company.
Chiaki has been advising senior executives for over twenty years on driving transformative growth using various levers. Using segmentation & value proposition, customer experience, brand strategy and marketing, she’s led clients in financial services, communication/technology and healthcare to new avenues of expansion. And she’s an industry leader in customer engagement and marketing accountability, having spoken at the Conference Board and the Association of National Advertisers. Her projects are wide ranging, encompassing a variety of insights and analytics approaches, a commitment to working effectively with design/ digital teams and an understanding that customers, and employees who work with them, are complex and multi-faceted.
Prior to joining Prophet, Chiaki was a Partner at Lippincott Mercer, and worked at Mercer Management Consulting, as well as Dell Computers. In October 2010 Chiaki Nishino was named a "Future Leader" by Consulting Magazine. She earned a B.A. in Government and East Asian Studies from Harvard University, and an M.B.A. in Marketing Strategy from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was designated Palmer Scholar. She is fluent in Japanese. She lives in NJ with her husband, two boys, a dog and two cats.
